Weekend wedding venues – the best in the South West

Weekend weddings are totally my thing, I love the idea of couples bringing their nearest and dearest to an amazing location for wedding mini-break. Extending celebrations is getting bigger and bigger in the wedding world, so here is a guide to some of my favourite options in the south-west and beyond.

Boconnoc
On my first visit, Boconnoc totally stole my heart. The surroundings are simply incredible, to get to the house you drive down a never-ending driveway through idyllic Cornish countryside. The house itself has been lovingly refurbished by the family who owns it, the rooms have kept their charming historical details whilst being light and contemporary. The site includes a lovely church and plenty of grounds for amazing photographs. Hire the entire house, and have enough accommodation for 40 guests in beautiful bedrooms.

North Cadbury Court
This is such an amazing wedding venue set in rolling Somerset countryside. You hire the entire space for your exclusive use. It has 25 stunning bedrooms and extensive parkland estate, plus plenty of space for your drinks reception and wedding breakfast. If you are looking for a church ceremony then the estate has one just 2 minute’s walk from the house. Plus a new swimming pool and sauna, snooker room and even a secret disco and grand casino in the cellar!

Pynes House
Oh my! Pynes House is incredible. Each room has been updated in a contemporary style whilst retaining the charm of original details. The accommodation on site is amazing with 12 individually decorated bedrooms. The venue is just 5 minutes drive from Exeter so is easily accessible. It has amazing reception rooms as well as an elegant ballroom. I particularly love the imposing staircase with huge 18th century stained glass window.

Bridwell
This amazing house is owned by Lord Ivar Mountbatten. Bridwell is a gorgeous Georgian house with on-site Orangery and Chapel. The house is set within 100 acres of landscaped parkland, including a lake and the most magnificent views across Devon. The house and stables can hold up to 46 guests in beautifully refurbished guest rooms.
